The guys over at ChopCult asked us to run some ignition covers of their design and straight out of the machine they look pretty cool.

Moving and renovating our new shop has been ridiculously slow and none of our finishing machines are up and running so the ChopCult crew is handling that.

Available in 2 bolt vertical, 2 bolt hoizontal & twin cam hole patterns.

Expect to see them up in The CC store with in the next couple of weeks.

This bit of useful information comes via #1 Bench*Mark test rider Rouser Works Rob.

Hit up your dealer for a 1999 Buell M2 Cyclone carburetor bracket, It should run you in the $15-$17 range.

We realize Buell parts are going to get harder to get so we're kicking around producing our own bracket, sexed up a little bit and made of stainless. We'll keep ya'll posted.

Friend of Bench*Mark Sheridan "El Skitzo" Brown pretty much single handedly drove us to do the Amal 930 Air cleaner. Once they were available he wasted no time picking up a couple for his redo of this 20 year old Australian chop.

Once a week or so we get emails asking can you make this like that or can you do one of these in a brushed finish?

The answer is yes we can but I'm always thinking why?

Yes all of our stuff is bolt on ready but they're not sacred vintage parts (maybe someday), why not make them your own?

Everyone has the same access to files sandpaper & scotch-brite pads we do.

Here's the kicker pedal I recently did for my personal bike. I used a vice, files, sandpaper, a hand drill and a couple hours of my time. I concaved the center of the body, rounded the hell out of the rest, polished the whole thing and then took a scotch-brite pad to it.

If you've reworked any of our stuff and we'd love to see it.

Temecula Terry showed up with this Biltwell exhaust tip and wanted a taillight made out of it for his current BMW project.

Pat went to town machining the bracket, hogging out the lenses for the LED cluster. We decided engraving a logo on the back was a good idea that way Terry could have something to sand off & polish.

I shaped the lenses & did the finish work and there you have it.

If we ever get some spare time we'd like to do more one off bits to put up in the store for ya'll.

The Latest Scoop On The Air Filter

Man the response on this thing has been crazy so we're trying to get it going as soon as possible.

Our good friend ChicoMoto Troy is on a journey of one, braving the weather from Seattle to LA/San Diego and back aboard his 67FL. So we figured what better test than his return to the Pac North West. Provided I bolted it up properly, the combination of slinky fins and perforated metal at speed doesn't attract deer, cattle, or big horn sheep I think we'll be on track for the first batch with in the next week.

As for price, we're trying really hard to hit the $140 mark give or take a five.

We'll keep you updated.

V2 "Rings" Ignition Cover available in the B*M store

V2 is a slightly different version of the original "Rings" cover.

A couple of subtle changes, the center has convex radius this time around & the bottom of each ring is a radius instead of a square edge.

We thought it looked nice.

2nd Air Cleaner Prototype

Over the weekend Pat spent some time on the air cleaner project.

The size is nailed down to 4" in diameter at 1 1/2" thick with an internal cage that holds the foam element in place. As far as we can tell it will directly bolt up to a couple of the popular carburetors and the rest will require an adaptor plate. The cleaner pictured is mounted to Pats Keihin with the adaptor plate. Also with this configuration we'll be able to offer a bunch of different designs of the outside cover.

More to come.

Working Samples

Pat spun a starter bearing yesterday & that put a halt to dialing in his bike for Saturdays ride so I took the opportunity to put in a few hours on the first working samples of the Kicker pedal & air cleaner.

So far I'm pretty pleased with both. Check them out but keep in mind there will be quite a few changes before they're ready.

I'm thinking the logos will be different on the pedal, some of the lines softened up a bit, a smaller bolt. The air cleaner will be changed the most with no visable logo & a completely different look on the front, a different mounting system & possibly a bit thinner.

A Couple of Bits in the Works.

Here's a couple of first prototypes of what we're working on. Keep in mind these are the first samples so a lot of changes are going to be made.

The air cleaner you see is real close to the size & shape, we're still working on style & multiple carb mounting methods.

The kick pedal is loosely based on one of my favorite BMX pedals that back then was too expensive for me to own. Anyone know which one?

It also has a ways to go but I'm already pretty stoked on it.

Chop Cult Bolt Covers

Here's the points covers we did for the Chop Cult guys .

We only did two and they'll be placed in the Miles Store were members can redeem milage points for product.

The Finned Points Covers Process

I've been ask a bunch of times how we make these points covers look the way they do.

Here it is.

First we cut the material to size and clamp it in the machine. Pat works his keyboard magic & the cutting begins.

Fresh out of the CNC Machine

Media blast front and back.

Next: I bolt each cover to a fixture, clamp it in the vice and rough shape it with an angle grinder/ rough grit flap wheel. Once I'm happy with the rough shape I smooth in the final edges on the bench grinder with an 80 grit flap wheel.

Next Step: deburr & smooth any scratches with a Scotch-brite wheel on the bench grinder.

The final steps are the polishing, first with black emery compound and the stitch wheel, secondly with white compound and the poofy polish wheel.

Done.
